You may already be using Alexa to keep up with daily traffic trends etc and if so, you will suddenly notice that they have started placing adverts directly where you would click the traffic rankings link! A smart move on their behalf as many of us many naturally click on that section!

Another strange thing you will notice is they have no alexa data about their own site and if you wish to purchase adverts on their site, you will not find the number of unique pageview or cpc.

We will assume that for a company bought for 200 million many years back, their own statistics are continuously heading up!

However is this a sign that the trend in basing assumptions on alexa data is going down? Possibly due to numerous other competitors getting in on the game.

Also have you purchased your alexa data t-shirt yet? Some other interesting things that Alexa offers are the more pro deals such as the custom top lists - you can get the top 100,000 sites to parse through if you are inclined but unfortunately not for free. It would seem that you cannot have a url comparison on your t-shirt however. Maybe a daily updated tshirt would be good!

Increase you alexa rank so you can have a nice tshirt

A link to a new page to create gmail accounts or login to your account has been put up on the google.co.uk home page. It appears that the Beta program is continuing but with ever growing storage and accounts.

Whats funny about this is doing a search on ebay.com for gmail brings up 206 items at the moment! Some have even gots bids. Prices being asked are not as high as they once were but since google.com does not have the link to the gmail page on their home page, many people are still un aware of the new policies and may even make a last buck from their gmail invites!

Microsoft expected to sell 100 million copies of Windows Vista by the end of 2007, thats a wopping $30,000,000,000 worth of software in their account. Its been 2 weeks since launch, have you got your copy yet? about 1% of you reading this will have already bought it.The big question is, is it as brown as the zune?! Will anyone else buy Vista? most probably…!

Was the amount of beta testers really 5million? or was it 500,000 - considering many people may have downloaded it and not installed it or uninstalled it soon after or what about the different versions, does each download of a new versions count as another beta tester?

Its been a few days now and many of you may have already installed vista onto your new Vista ready machines, or maybe you upgraded, or maybe you are just waiting. One thing is for sure, at some point you will be getting Windows Vista. Looking at your old XP machine will never be the same again. You can be sure that you will not have to see that blue theme from XP again, nor will you have to see the blue screens or at least that is what Microsoft will have you believe.

Security has been vastly improved, but you will still need to supplement this with almost all the applications that you had in XP for Vista. This means that there still will be users out there that are not going to have adequate security and that represents a large target that people will exploit in the months to come. It may be much safer to browse the web with IE7 on Vista, however if you do not have a virus scanner or dependable spyware scanner that can only get you so far. Can the atomic transactions, UAC, protected processes, etc all be enough or will you still end up having problems?

One thing to note is that there are plans for IE8 which may be a good sign, since sticking to ie6 has not been a safe idea all those years and many people may not have upgraded to ie7. By installing Vista users will now have ie7 which provides some good protection.

Wi-fi connectivity finally will work out of the box, something which XP never really understood, no more dealing with 100s of different pieces of software to connect to wi-fi networks.

The next question is will all you hardware and software now work with Vista? This is a major question, we already know you will need to upgrade your pc, and maybe this means that users will have more compatible hardware if they buy the latest, however not in all cases!

So the real question is who likes Vista at the moment?

Not all users may find every part of vista to be an improvement but in time when all applications and hardware become compatible and when all bugs and exploits get sorted, we will all prefer Vista to XP. Only problem is this will not happen. The only solution (well not exactly only) would be to all get a brand new Vista PC and keep the old XP one as well!

Then maybe everyone will like Vista.
